Episode Synopsis

Naruto makes fun of Anko for bringing them to the Forest of Death. Not taking Naruto’s comments lightly, she pulls a shuriken and threatens Naruto, clipping the clothes of another ninja in the process. That serpent-tongued ninja interrupts her reprimands to hand her back her shuriken. Soon, Anko hands out consent forms, as some may die during this exam. The 2nd exam is a survival exam in the 44th training area, a circular region surrounded by 4 locked gate entrances dubbed the Forest of Death.

Episode Synopsis

Time ticks away until the 10th problem is given. There is one special rule for it – what they call a hopeless rule.

The three rookie Genin sensei, Kakashi, Asuma, and Yuuhi, sit outside the testing room wondering how their teams are doing. They note that Ibiki is Konoha ANBU’s torture and interrogation squad leader, so they are certain that he is mentally torturing and interrogating his exam participants.

Episode Synopsis

Morino Ibiki enters the room and reprimands his Sound team for acting before the exam starts. He mentions that no one is allowed to fight another during the exam unless given permission by the examiners. Even if permission is given, they are not allowed to kill their opponent. If they break the rules, they will fail. The first exam is a paper test.

Episode Synopsis

Kakashi explains that the Chuunin exam can only be taken in teams of three. Sakura is shocked that Kakashi lied to them about their free will to choose whether or not they wanted to participate. Kakashi explains that if he didn’t say that, Naruto and Sasuke would have forced her to participate. He, however, is very proud that each member of his team agreed to participate.

Episode Synopsis

Sasuke seems to have attracted the attention of Rock Lee, who challenges him to a fight. Rock Lee is not only interested in seeing how his skills match up against a descendent of the Uchiha clan, but he also has a mad crush on Sakura, much to her dismay. Feeling neglected in his teammates’ shadows, Naruto offers to fight in Sasuke’s place. Without wasting time, he charges, but is easily stopped by Rock Lee. Rock Lee explains that they cannot beat him because he is the strongest of the Konoha Genins right now. Now interested, Sasuke accepts his challenge.

Episode Synopsis

Gaara reprimands Kankurou for coming to the village and starting something with these kids. Kankurou apologizes to him. Sasuke is haunted by Gaara’s evil eyes, while Gaara is impressed that Sasuke could hit Kankurou’s hand so easily with a rock. The three are Genins of the Hidden Village of the Sand from the Country of Wind. They came to this village to take the Chuunin exam. Before they walk away, Sasuke and Gaara exchange names and hard looks.
